No one should go to work fearing for their safety. Yet, thousands of workers in healthcare, security, and retail are assaulted every year. If your employer failed to protect you from a known risk of violence, you can claim compensation.

High-Risk Sectors

Healthcare & Care

Nurses and care workers attacked by patients due to lack of staffing or training.

Security & Prison

Guards and officers injured due to inadequate backup or faulty equipment.

Retail & Hospitality

Staff assaulted by shoplifters or aggressive customers while working alone.

Option B: CICA Claim

If your employer did everything right but you were still attacked, you can claim via the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). This is a government fund for victims of crime. We can handle this application for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to report it to the police?

Yes. If you intend to claim via the CICA, a police report is mandatory. For employer negligence claims, an entry in the workplace Accident Book is essential, but a police report strengthens your case significantly.

Can I be fired for claiming?

No. It is illegal to dismiss an employee for making a personal injury claim against the company. Your employer has insurance to cover these costs; they do not pay out of their own pocket.

What if the attacker wasn't caught?

You can still claim. If claiming against your employer, the identity of the attacker is irrelevant (the claim is about safety failures). If claiming via CICA, you just need a police reference number confirming a crime took place.
